EICR
What is an Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR)?
An Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) is a comprehensive assessment involving a series of electrical tests and a detailed visual inspection of an electrical installation. This process evaluates the condition of the installation to ensure its ongoing safety and compliance with relevant standards.
To conduct an EICR, one of our qualified and experienced electrical technicians will perform a thorough visual examination alongside a range of appropriate electrical tests. Based on the results of these inspections and tests, the technician will generate a detailed report, offering a professional assessment of the continued safety and functionality of the electrical installation.
Our team is equipped to perform EICR inspections nationwide.
Why Do I Need an Electrical Installation Condition Report?
An EICR is essential to ensure:
- The safety of individuals and animals from risks such as electric shock and burns.
- Protection of property against potential fire hazards and heat damage resulting from installation defects.
- Confirmation that the electrical installation is not compromised or deteriorated to a level that may impair safety.
- Identification of defects and deviations from B.S. 7671 (The Electrical Wiring Regulations) that could present a danger.
When Should an EICR Be Carried Out?
You may require an Electrical Installation Condition Report in the following situations:
- When purchasing a new property.
- At the request of licensing authorities, public bodies, insurance companies, mortgage lenders, or other entities that may require periodic inspection, such as in the case of HMOs.
- Upon a change of occupancy, particularly in rented domestic properties.
- Following any additions or alterations to the premises.
- If there is reason to suspect damage to the installation, such as after a flood.
